The Worthy Descendants of Lomonosov project was implemented by the Geologist Center in 2009-2010 with support from ConocoPhillips Russia Inc.

The project involved some 40 school students in Arkhangelsk. They participated in an expedition visiting the great Russian scholar and scientist's home village of Lomonosovo, in Kholmogory District, Arkhangelsk Region, where they learned a lot about his life and work and achievements in scientific research. They also learned to grow crystals from copper sulfate and salt, to identify minerals and rock types and visited a diamond mine. In addition, they were able to explore and develop their creative potential in quizzes and contests and learned important hiking skills, such as pitching camp and cooking on a campfire.
